About Me

I live in Texas with my husband, daughters and energetic dog named Bear. I write stories for preschool through first-grade children to help them through life’s challenging moments such as sleeping in your own bed, tying your own shoes and playing fairly. I draw inspiration from my own children, and my stories are reflections of moments we shared together, as well as those I experienced growing up in New Jersey.

Have you met Penny?

She’s a precocious porcupine that experiences similar things in the course of a day that your child does – except with quills. Read along and find out how she deals with some of life’s issues, such as sleeping in her own bed, that are no doubt, just as important to your child.

Porcupine Penny is my first children’s book and a result of one night’s effort to get my daughter to sleep in her own bed. When I was telling the story, I tried to think of an animal she wouldn’t want to have sleep in her bed. Would you want to sleep with a porcupine?

This picture is the first drawing I made when I created Penny. She’s gone through many changes since then, but she is still the most cuddley porcupine you’ll ever meet.

The best part of my day is when I’m sitting on the floor reading to children.

Author visits for preschool through first grade last approximately 25 minutes per classroom. Smaller groups of no more than 15 are recommended for a more interactive experience, but larger groups can be accommodated. All children will receive a sticker at the conclusion of the visit.
